Polyurethane

Polyurethane was first discovered in the 1930’s by Professor Otto Bayer in his quest to search for an alternative for natural rubber during the World War II. But he discovered more than what he longed for – polyurethane. It then turned out to be one of the most important compounds in almost all of the things around us today; a product that’s far greater than a substitute for natural rubber. Because of his discovery, he was referred as the Father of the polyurethanes engineering. Nowadays, polyurethane comes in many forms to make it suitable to a myriad of applications because of its flexibility to substitute aplenty of materials that are either scarce or expensive.

Advantages of Cast Polyurethane

  • Excellent Impact, Abrasion, Cut, and Tear resistance.
  • Typically out-perform mild steel up to 10X in abrasive applications.

Industrial Parts

Ismat manufactures high quality, industry standard, and custom polyurethane components for industrial machinery. We only use engineering grade castable polyurethane materials, ensuring highly durable solutions tailored for the specific needs of the industry.

We work in collaboration with our customers to develop new and better end-to end solutions through our design and experience working with polyurethane chemistry, we can tailor polyurethane moldings to suit the specific requirements for the product’s end use.

Our aim is to enable all our Industrial Parts customers to benefit from a higher product performance, lower down-times, reduced costs and ultimately improve productivity. The intrinsic properties of polyurethane, coupled with our specialist knowledge provides a plethora of solutions, such as: higher abrasion and tear resistance, lower flex fatigue, high compressive and tensile strengths. These features and benefits can be combined as necessary with high chemical resistance and product weight saving, resulting in a more reliable up-time of your production equipment.

Some of the industrial products include polyurethane rollers, and pulleys; buffers pads, springs and shock absorbers; wear plates; milling & grinding vessels and canister lining; sheet, blocks, rods, tubes, tires, Wheels, Casters Rollers, Conveyors, Chute, Conveyor Liners & Skirting, Cable Carriers Scrapers Snow Plow Blades & Cutting Edges Seals And Gaskets, Liners, Pumps, Impellers, Bushings, Screen Decks Bumpers, Dampeners.

Metal Forming, Tooling & Equipment’s

The mechanical properties of polyurethane allow for excellent resilience, toughness and load bearing capacity. These properties can be specifically controlled through different mixtures of the polyurethane ingredients. Polyurethane also has high resistance to mechanical fatigue, shear, and corrosion, impact and mold contamination.

Some of the major advantages of Polyurethane are non-compressibility, resiliency, and the ability to form and hold metal without tarnishing its surface finish. It behaves similar to a solid fluid with a memory; under force it will change its shape, but its volume will remain constant. Polyurethane will produce high, uniform and continuous counter pressure under load. And, when the load is removed, it quickly returns to its original shape.

Some examples of polyurethane products made for metal forming Industries are strip and sheet, bending pads and blocks, wear pads, rods, tubes and protective covers, springs, strippers, forming Bars, V- Dies, sand & grit blast shield.

Oil & Gas Industry

Polyurethane is a natural choice in the oil and gas industry, as few materials can match it in terms of durability and cost effectiveness. Service demand on the product is very high, as everything from crude extraction, to gas compression, to refining is punishing on components and tools. As components need to be changed regularly due to heavy wear and tear, polyurethane comes in as the best choice on replacement. Polyurethane is a popular choice for oil and gas operations for many reasons.

Mining and Crusher Industries

Equipment’s in the Mining and aggregate industries must withstand one of the toughest working conditions. High wear and tear and tough environmental conditions can greatly impact the performance of the equipment’s. When equipment’s fail they can bring production to a standstill, maintenance could take days or even weeks in remote areas which may result in heavy downtime costs. Materials such as rubber and steel get damaged due to the abrasive nature of the mining materials- polyurethane comes in as a viable option as it can withstand tough working conditions and comes out as a winner against conditions where it is exposed to severe impact, puncture, cutting, tearing, and abrasion. The material also has the ability to change shape under heavy load pressure, and then return to its original shape once the load is removed.

Due to polyurethanes high property portfolio it is increasingly being utilized in a wide range of mining applications, such as impact-and abrasion-resistant plates, blasting curtains and screens, conveyor liners/skirting’s, haul truck bed liners, and off the road tire sidewall protectors for various vehicles, sheet, scraper blades and wear pads; screening and grading mats; covers, tubes and rods; pulleys rollers and cable guides; star wheels Conveyor Scrapers Primary & Secondary, Conveyor Roller, Chute & Hopper Liner, Covers.

Offshore Marine Construction

Offshore marine construction is required to support the ever growing demand for oil and gas exploration. This means that keeping up with the demand in oil and gas extraction, transport and processing. The offshore platforms need to be built before the exploration can actually begin. The support systems on the offshore rigs need to be in place to make sure smooth flow of materials from the rigs to the vessels. Polyurethane has been the first choice for various oil and gas operations, as it is with the offshore construction industry

All oil and gas explorations require long pipes to transport oil and gas from the sea bed. These long and heavy pipes are handled by pipe laying vessels which have heavy load carrying lifts. These lifts are fitted with heavy duty polyurethane roller cradles for easy and safe movement of heavy pipes from on shore sites to the cargo vessels and from there to the pipe laying vessels.

The pipes go through the fabrication process where they are beveled, welded together and blasted before being coated to protect the pipe against the ruggers of sea bed conditions. Here 100% solids rigid or structural polyurethane coating on pipes (inside and outside) is a preferred choice on all three pipe substrates: steel, ductile iron and concrete as they have excellent flexibility, elongation, impact and abrasion resistance properties and are anti-corrosive and anti-microbial resistant.

Custom Molded Polyurethane Products

Polyurethane can be compounded and fabricated into almost any shape or size while attaining the properties required for a particular application. With minimum effort, products can be manufactured from the existing sample by using the same sample to prototype the product. However where required, the product can be custom designed by our engineering department and fabricated as per the drawings or samples submitted by the client’s.

Since in most cases the mold cost is low – it is cost effective to produce smaller quantities.
